Paper: O.J. Put Cash Out Of Courts’ Reach
A British tabloid reported Sunday that O.J. Simpson stashed $5 million in an offshore bank account during his visit to Britain last week.
The Sunday Express used anonymous sources and the report could not be independently confirmed.
Simpson was acquitted last year of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman. The victims’ families are suing Simpson in civil cases.
The Sunday Express said Simpson wanted to put his fortune beyond the reach of the courts and moved his money via accounts in the West Indies and Dublin, Ireland, to Britain’s Isle of Man, a well-known tax haven in the Irish Sea.
The newspaper said Simpson traveled to Britain to make complex financial arrangements with consultants - without the constant scrutiny he faces in the United States.
