Fair Will Focus On Senior Health

The Spokane Convention Center will be abuzz Wednesday and Thursday with thousands of Inland Northwest senior citizens and others attending Spokane’s Senior Health & Fitness Fair & Bookfest ‘96.

The event, sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP) of Spokane County, will feature exhibits and speakers exploring “Being a senior in the ‘90s, Becoming a senior in the ‘90s, and Caring for a senior in the ‘90s.”

Besides health and fitness, other topics to be covered from a senior’s perspective include leisure time, housing, cultural change, tax issues, remodeling, investing, mental health, education, employment, Social Security and more.

There will be more than 100 exhibit booths to provide information not only to senior citizens but to anyone concerned with aging issues. There will also be entertainment, including a brass band, folk singer and dancers.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Admission is $3.
