Firm Ends Ban On Women Wearing Pants
A brokerage backed down Tuesday after provoking outcry by barring female employees from wearing trousers.
Lippo Securities said it rescinded the ban because it was “ill-advised,” managing director Clive Rigby said.
Seeking to stop women from coming to work in bell-bottoms, Lippo last week threatened female trouser-wearers in general with fines of $38.
Women’s rights advocates complained, and the Labor Department warned it was unlawful to dock wages for violating the dress code.
