Lots Of Films In Seattle

With Memorial Day weekend coming, there’s no better time to visit Seattle. And there’s no better time to take advantage of the 22nd Seattle International Film Festival.

The month-long event, which kicked off May 16, will offer 48 different movie screenings Saturday through Monday. Add five more if you can get there by 9:30 tonight.

Following are a few highlights: “I Can’t Sleep” (tonight, 9:30 and Sunday, 12:30 p.m., Harvard Exit Up theater) - This French study of a serial killer by Clair Denis was called “one of 1995’s 10 best” by Village Voice critic Georgia Brown.

“The King of the Masks” (Saturday, 6:30 p.m. Harvard Exit Down) - A Chinese epic by Wu Tianming about an elderly man trying to pass on the secret of his art and the girl who wants to learn it.

“L’Amore Molesto” (Sunday, 6:30 p.m., Harvard Exit Down) - This Italian feature boasts the award-winning performance of Anna Bonaiuto as a woman searching for the secret of her mother’s death.

“Flirt” (Sunday, 9:15 p.m., Guild 45th) - American director Hal Hartley offers three variations on the theme of commitment.

“Sudden Manhattan” (Monday, 12:39 p.m., The Egyptian) - Writer-director-star Adrienne Shelley plays a young woman caught up in bizarre circumstances that involve unemployment, murder and magic.

SIFF ticket prices range from $7 for evening shows to $5 for matinee and midnight features and $4 for ages 16 and under for films included in the Child’s Play series. Advance credit-card orders may be made by calling (206) 325-6150.
