Union Plans Protests At Yale Graduation

Compiled From Wire Services

Yale was tightening security and warning parents of what to expect at Monday’s graduation ceremony, as union activists promised to bring in thousands of protesters.

Coal miners from Pennsylvania and university employees from New York and Massachusetts are among the workers from around the Northeast expected to join the protest being led by the Rev. Jesse Jackson and AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Richard L. Trumka.

Yale’s two unions, representing 1,100 custodial, dining hall and maintenance workers, have been without contracts since February.
