Actress Dorothy Hyson, often praised for her beauty, has died at age 81. The American-born actress died Thursday in London.

Hyson is said to have inspired the songwriting team of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart to compose the 1935 tune “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.”

She divorced her first husband, actor Robert Douglas, in 1945 and married actor-director Anthony Quayle two years later. He died in 1989.

She had her greatest success in the 1943 stage thriller “Pink String and Sealing Wax.” She retired a half century ago.
