Cheap liquor containing large quantities of methyl alcohol has flooded the Serbian market, killing 21 people in three months.
The killer liquor often does not differ in taste from regular brandies or whiskeys but is made of poisonous methyl alcohol, water and artificial coloring, the Politika newspaper reported Sunday.
It is sold in street markets in bottles with labels of well-known Serbian brandies or foreign liquors. The prices are cheap, and many people buy it without knowing it is not the real thing.
The newspaper said authorities have arrested an undetermined number of people in the case.
