Obituaries

Albert Moore Indio, Calif.

Service for Albert Paul Moore, 70, was held May 1 in Cathedral City, Calif. Memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. June 1 at Pines Cemetery Mausoleum.

Mr. Moore, a former Spokane resident, died April 27 at home. He was born in Rolla, Mo.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and settled in San Francisco after the war. He married Gloria Gerth in 1947. She died in 1976.

In San Francisco, Mr. Moore worked as a railroad car distributor for Pacific Fruit Express from 1947 until 1969. He and his family moved to Spokane in 1970, and he worked for his brother, Roy, at Life Insurance of the Northwest. He lived in Spokane until 1989, when he transferred to Kirkland, Wash. He retired in 1992.

In 1978 he renewed a friendship with a childhood sweetheart from Missouri, Jeanne McCoy, and they were later married.

In Spokane, he was a member of the Hi-Flyers Square Dance Club and the Western Dance Association.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; one daughter, Diane Kilgore of Cheney; one son, David Moore of Liberty Lake; six stepdaughters, JoAnne McDonald of Colbert, Cheryl Stubbs of Arcadia, Calif., and Jan Powers of Palm Desert, Calif.; two grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Anne Washington Spokane

Memorial service for Anne E. (Heitner) Washington, 46, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. There will be private inurnment.

Ms. Washington died Tuesday from cancer. She was born in Cleveland, Minn., and had lived in Spokane for 11 years.

She had been an illustrator at The Spokesman-Review since 1992 and had won awards for her work, done in acrylics, pastels and watercolors.

She is survived by two sons, Douglas and Edward Washington, and one daughter, Lilly Washington, all of Spokane; the children’s father, Richard Washington of Spokane; her mother, Mary Ann Heitner of Cleveland, Minn.; four brothers, Richard Heitner of LeCenter, Minn., Steven and William Heitner, both of Spokane, and Mark Heitner of Waseca, Minn.; four sisters, Jackie May and Kristine Campbell, both of Mankato, Minn., Leah Heitner of Cleveland, Minn., and Kathryn Haggbloom of St. Peter, Minn.
