Hit-Run Driver Kills Three Girls

Compiled From Wire Services

A slumber party ended tragically late Sunday when a hit-and-run driver struck four 12-year old girls on a dark rural road, killing three of them.

“There were skid marks, so he knew he hit someone,” said Sheriff’s Lt. Marilyn Dixon. Authorities said Monday they were looking for a rust or brown-colored pickup or small truck.

Two of the girls had been at a sleep-over party at twin sisters Cari and Sara Sanaghan’s house when all four left to go visit a boy. The group was returning to the Sanaghan home when the truck came over the crest of a hill and bore down on them a few minutes before midnight.

Cari Sanaghan, Sheena Acres and Courtney Lauer all were killed. Sara Sanaghan was treated and released from a local hospital. The boy was not injured.
