Russian Climber Dies In Himalayas
A Russian member of a Himalayan expedition, who has been missing since May 14, is dead, Nepal’s Tourism Ministry said Monday.
The body of Anatoly Chlekht, 37, of the Kuzbass Makalu Expedition, was found at a height of 25,410 feet on the route to 27,928-foot Mount Makalu.
The death of the engineer from Tomsk was confirmed by team leader Vladimir Savkov, the ministry said.
A British member of the first South African expedition to Mount Everest is still missing on the world’s highest peak.
Bruce Herrod, 47, of London, was reported missing during the descent from the summit after reaching there on Saturday.
