Beauty Bay Trail Improvements Done
The Bureau of Land Management recently completed improvements to the Beauty Bay Trail just in time for National Trails Day, which is Saturday.
The trail has been widened and paved to make it one of the only fully accessible non-urban trails in the Northwest, according to the BLM.
The trailhead is located off state Highway 97, about six miles south of the Interstate 90 Wolf Lodge exit.
The trail winds up a gentle grade and ends at an overlook of Lake Coeur d’Alene. Several benches are situated along the route. A toilet and picnic tables are at the trailhead.
Improvements were paid for with a National Trail Trust Fund grant from the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. Volunteer labor for the initial trail work was provided by Northwoods Consulting Group. The BLM paved the trail last year and hired a contractor to pave the access road and parking lot this spring.
Boy Scout volunteers are helping the BLM to maintain the Beauty Bay and nearby Mineral Ridge trails this summer.
