Computerized Licensing System Overloaded

Idaho’s Fish and Game Department is asking hunters and anglers to go easy on the state’s new computerized licensing system.

High demand for hunting licenses is overloading the state’s “Point of Sale Machine” system. The system - the first of its kind in the nation - has been plagued by quirks and shutdowns.

Shops across North Idaho said they had problems with the system over the Memorial Day weekend. Those that were unable to log on to the computerized system issued sportsmen temporary paper licenses.

Steve Beig, license section supervisor for the department, said it’s best to avoid the times of peak demand on the system - from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
