School Classes Offered This Summer

From Staff And Wire Reports

A variety of summer school classes, including some designed for gifted children, will be offered this year by Spokane School District 81.

Neighborhood schools are registering students this week. After June 3, registration materials should be mailed to the district administration building, 200 N. Bernard.

Classes in basic subjects, driver’s education, an arts program and athletic camps will be offered, most beginning in mid-June. Classes require a fee and are not restricted to students living in the district.

In addition, the Spokane Skills Center will offer high school students classes in dental careers, commercial art, electronics and other vocational areas.

Supported by state taxes, the summer classes require a $15 or $20 materials fee. Registration is being held at the center, 4141 N. Regal.

A Summer Academy for gifted students will be offered in July at Libby Center. The program will be similar to the Saturday Academy started by the district this year.

A booklet describing all the classes is available from the district.
