Cocaine Ruled Out In Halloween Scare

Blood and urine tests of a 7-year-old boy believed to have eaten Halloween cookies or candy laced with cocaine showed no trace of the drug, police said.

Police initially suspected cocaine after Ferdinan Siquig of San Jose collapsed several times while trick-or-treating with his family on Halloween.

He was taken to Santa Teresa Kaiser Hospital and was released early Friday, police said.

Initial urine-analysis showed traces of cocaine in Ferdinan’s system, but follow-up tests yielded no sign of the drug, Sgt. Bob Beams said.

The cause of the boy’s collapse remained unknown, but police have discontinued their investigation, Beams said.
