Donna Viola, a European filly winning her third consecutive race in as many different countries, edged in front in the final strides for a half-length victory in the $600,000 Yellow Ribbon Stakes on the turf at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Gary Stevens in her U.S. debut, 10-1 shot Donna Viola outfinished Real Connections, who made a strong bid down the stretch, and Dixie Pearl, who wound up another head behind in third.
