Apartment Fire Kills Woman, Injures Man

Authorities searched for the cause of an apartment fire that killed a woman and left a man injured Tuesday morning.

The four-alarm fire at the Ridgeview Terrace Apartments in southwest Portland was reported about 5 a.m.

The fire snarled rush-hour traffic along a major commuting route and hampered voters’ access to a polling place in a nearby school.

Investigators found the body of a woman believed in her 30s or 40s. An 18-year-old man was taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The fire did $550,000 damage to the apartment building and $200,000 damage to the contents of the building.
