Ballot Counting Problems Delay Results In Bonner County Races

From Staff And Wire Reports

Bonner County commissioners

Early returns in Bonner County showed all races fairly close, although ballot counting problems delayed results.

The District 1 Bonner County commission seat was a horse race between incumbent Democrat Steven Klatt and Republican Bud Mueller.

With five of the 36 precincts reporting, Klatt led with 598 votes to Mueller’s 572. Independent Patty Douglas already was out of the race with 86 votes.

In District 2, Republican Larry Allen was ahead of Oldtown Mayor Brian Orr. Early returns showed Allen earning 620 votes while Orr, a Democrat, had 585. The incumbent commissioner Wayne Newcomb was defeated by Allen in the primary.
