Colombian Police Deactivate Car Bomb

Compiled From Wire Services

Police in Cali on Tuesday deactivated a car bomb suspected to have been aimed at a senator pressing Colombia’s Congress to extradite drug traffickers.

A minibus filled with 375 pounds of explosives was parked outside a business owned by the family of Sen. Claudia Blum, who is promoting anti-drug legislation.

Guards at the building had become suspicious of the van and called police in Cali, home of a famous drug cartel, about 150 miles southwest of the capital, Bogota.
