Kootenai County Clerk Dan English Leading In Votes To Retain His Seat
Kootenai County clerk
Kootenai County Clerk Dan English was well on his way to retaining his seat Tuesday against Republican challenger Lee Knowles.
English, 44, had 4,061 votes with about 8 percent of the ballots tallied. Knowles, 68, had 2,691 votes.
English, a Democrat, was appointed in 1995 to fill the clerk’s position when Tom Taggart was selected as the county’s first administrator.
Knowles, who owns a bed and breakfast on Lake Coeur d’Alene, has never held public office, but was active in the Kootenai County Property Owners Association.
