Microsoft Chief Awarded Doctorate

From Staff And Wire Reports

Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates, a Harvard dropout, received an honorary doctorate degree Tuesday from the Netherlands’ top business school for his “entrepreneurial flair and vision.”

Nijenrode University, the first and only private Dutch university, lauded Gates for his significant contribution to making information technology accessible to private companies, educational institutions and individuals.

The university said the degree acknowledges Gates’ “invaluable role in the information revolution,” adding “his entrepreneurial flair and vision have greatly enhanced the globalization of information technology.”

Gates, who quit Harvard University to co-found Microsoft, is already a member of the International Advisory Board at the university in central Netherlands.
