Robert Howman Receives Professional Award

Robert Howman, Bonner County School District special education director, recently received the Outstanding Professional Award from Idaho Parents Unlimited (IPUL).

Howman was selected for demonstrating excellence in pursuing and obtaining an improved quality of life for families who have children with disabilities.

Ferris Paisano was recently elected by the Baha’i community to represent North Idaho and Eastern Washington as the regional delegate at the National Baha’i Convention to be held in April.

Paisano, a longtime Baha’i, teacher and Lapwai, Idaho, resident, will help elect members of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United States.

Cassandra Gulam and Laura E. Rude, Lake City High School students, have been selected as Coeur d’Alene Rotary Students of the Month.

Rude, a National Merit semifinalist, received recognition for September and maintains a 3.94 grade-point average.

She participates in Youth Volunteers in Action and honors classes and plays the oboe in the symphonic orchestra.

Gulam was chosen for October and maintains high academic standards.

She is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist and participates in honors classes, varsity track, dance team, drama, pep band, Idaho Drug Free Youth and symphonic band.

Army Pvt. Carrie L. Bremner, a 1996 graduate of Lakeland High School, recently graduated from basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Mo.

Bremner, daughter of Debbie Sandlin of Athol and Douglas Bremner of North Carolina, received instruction in weapons, tactics, map reading, drill and ceremonies, first aid, military courtesy and justice and Army history and traditions.

Army Pvt. Alex Bartlett, a 1994 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School, recently began basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Ga.

Bartlett, son of Patti Seymour of Coeur d’Alene, will receive training in map reading, tactics, military customs and courtesies, drill and ceremonies, and first aid. He will be expected to develop basic combat skills and experience using various infantry soldier weaponry.
