Women: What Would Make Sports Appealing?

What do young women want in the sports pages? That’s what we hope to find out.

If you are a regular reader of the newspaper, but a woman who never - or only occasionally - looks at the sports pages, we want to talk to you.

We are holding a forum at The Spokesman-Review the evening of Nov. 14. If you are interested in attending, please call sports editor Jeff Jordan at 459-5512 or interactive editor Rebecca Nappi at 459-5496. North Idaho callers can use the toll free number, (800) 789-0029.

If you get our voicemail, leave the spelling of your first and last names, your address, your age, a daytime phone number and a little description about yourself. Or fax the information to (509) 459-5098 or email rebeccan@spokesman.com. See you on the 14th!

Think creative: Don’t forget about Our Generation’s call for your best creative writing. We want to see the poems and short stories written by teens of the Inland Northwest. We’re gathering entries for our sixth annual creative writing page and, if you’re a teen, you’re eligible.

Here are the rules:

1. You must be between 13 and 19 years old.

2. Entries can be poems or short stories of no more than 1,000 words. You may also include drawings or other artwork (yours or a friend’s) to accompany your piece.

3. Only one entry per person.

4. Mail a copy of your work by Nov. 30 to Our Generation, Get Creative, P.O. Box 2160, Spokane, WA 99210-1615. Include your name, age, school, address and phone number. Sorry, entries can’t be returned.

The Our Generation staff and members from the Teen Advisory Council will pick the best entries. They’ll be published in late December.
