Officer Who Dated Prostitute Is Rehired
A Gresham police officer fired after dating a prostitute returns to work on Friday.
Former Lt. James Kalbasky is going back to work in the position of police officer about five months after being dismissed, Gresham police and the Gresham police officers union said in a statement on Wednesday.
Kalbasky was suspended with pay in March pending an investigation into his relationship with the woman. Kalbasky drove an unmarked police car to meet her and admitted having sex with her while on duty.
Kalbasky dated the woman for a short time and was never accused of paying her for sex. Vice officers found Kalbasky’s number on her phone bill.
Kalbasky, a 17-year veteran, said he worked a lot of uncompensated overtime and had some flexibility on how he used his time.
