Pity The Poor Letter Carrier
Campaigns and Christmas combined to give the post office a one-day record for cash flow on Tuesday, $522 million.
That topped the one-day record of $500 million, set last Dec. 5.
Normally the first Tuesday in December is the top cash day at the Postal Service, thanks to Christmas mailing.
Tuesday’s are record days because that’s the day the agency accounts for money received on the previous Friday and Saturday.
The record set this week was attributed to the combination of last-minute political mailings and people getting an early start on holiday sales.
