Nfl Fines Smith $25,000

Atlanta Falcons defensive end Chuck Smith was fined $25,000 by the NFL for lunging at the knees of Carolina Panthers quarterback Kerry Collins in last Sunday’s game. The hit drew a 15-yard personal foul penalty against Smith and knocked Collins from the game with what was diagnosed as a sprained medial collateral ligament. He’s expected to play Sunday.

Running back Bosh Pritchard, named to the Philadelphia Eagles all-time team in 1965, died at his home in Fort Myers, Fla., the team announced. He was 77.
