Defending Champs Top Preseason Polls

Two defending state high school girls basketball champions were ranked No. 1 in preseason polls.

State A-4 champion Troy was ranked No. 1 on all the ballots of the state’s sportswriters, while A-3 champion Grangeville received six of seven first-place votes.

Defending State A-1 champion Centennial was ranked third. Borah, undefeated all season before Sandpoint upset the Lions in the state semifinals, was rated No. 1, followed closely by Lake City.

Preston was top billed in A-2, just ahead of defending champion Moscow.

This is the third year that The Spokesman-Review is coordinating the polls.
