Olympics Almost In Black

Compiled From Wire Services

Organizers say the Atlanta Games are less than $15 million away from the $1.7 billion needed to break even. But there are still several substantial bills and a few lawsuits that will eat up some of the money.

Last month, ACOG President Billy Payne assured the U.S. Olympic Committee that his city’s games would not lose money. Other ACOG officials have even said there may be some money left when the books are closed next year.

But the work isn’t over yet. The Olympic stadium must be reconfigured into a baseball field for the Atlanta Braves.
