Local Women Recognized For Career Excellence

The following local women were recently recognized for their career excellence and dedication at the Women’s Forum held at Templin’s Resort in Post Falls:

Amy Bartoo, executive director of Idaho Drug Free Youth for five years and a member of the Governor’s Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, received the Health Award. She was called a credit to the community and was cited for enthusiasm, honesty and being nonjudgmental.

Lorna Sears, a volunteer pharmacist consultant in the Panhandle Health District 1 for 25 years, earned the Senior Award. She was cited for being a mentor and role model, maintaining professional standards and enduring in a professional field dominated for years by men.

Nancy DiGiammarco, director of the Kootenai County Convention and Visitors Bureau and a community volunteer, received the Tourism and Hospitality Services Award. She was cited for her dedication in bringing brilliance, organization and hard work in making Kootenai County a destination appealing to leisure, corporate and convention travelers.

Jeanne Bock, director of the Family and Community Health Service department for Idaho Panhandle Health District 1 in Coeur d’Alene, received the Public Service Award for developing new programs and redesigning others, such as daycare arrangements for special individuals in need.

She is instrumental in the Helping Hands Project and the Mobile Health Van and is in charge of supervising nurse practitioners, senior public health nurses, licensed practical nurses, dental hygienists and social workers and was cited for in-depth knowledge of the political budgeting process, human resource skills, and personnel policies and procedures.

Heather Bledsoe, a 3.8 grade-point average Gonzaga Prep honors student and vacation Bible school teacher, received the Young Adult Community Service Award.

Bledsoe, cited for her strength, determination, servitude and compassion to others, serves on the Youth Board of her church and personally collected 150-250 pounds of food for the needy last Thanksgiving.

Bledsoe, who was born with a heart defect and has undergone many surgeries with a positive attitude, is currently employed by Templin’s Resort. She recently won the resort’s food and beverage contest to design a logo to support the mission statement, “We will reach or exceed our guest’s expectations.”
