Year-Round School Topic Of Forum

Compiled From Wire Services

The potential for voluntary year-round school at Prairie View Elementary School in Post Falls will be discussed at a Monday forum.

The 7 p.m. meeting is sponsored by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization. Parents and other residents are invited to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the proposal.

The year-round option would begin next year, if it’s approved by the School Board this spring.

While such programs are used elsewhere to relieve crowding, school officials say their main reason for suggesting year-round school is the educational benefits it provides. Students get the same amount of vacation time, but it is spread across the calendar.
