Fire Districts Propose Transfer Of Farm Acreage

Brian Coddington Staff Writer

Three fire districts and more than 3,100 rural acres would be affected by proposed changes in fire protection boundaries.

The plan proposed by the three fire districts calls for the transfer of 3,115 acres to Fire District 2 from Fire District 3 and Fire District 8; the transfer of 14 acres to Fire District 3 from Fire District 2; and the transfer of 21 acres to Fire District 8 from Fire District 2.

The land affected by the proposed changes is agricultural and has no houses or other buildings on it. It is all in the Latah Creek and Rock Creek area.

Affected parties have until Friday to request the Boundary Review Board invoke its jurisdiction and hold a public hearing on the matter.

Fire District 8 is south of Spokane Valley Fire District 1 and north of Fire District 2. Fire District 3 is west of Fire District 8 and south of the city.
