Body Found In Woods May Be Missing Teen

From Staff And Wire Reports

A body found in a wooded area near Lake Cushman Saturday may be that of a teenager who has been missing for two weeks, Mason County officials say.

Gerald Harkins, 18, was last seen in Shelton Nov. 2 near a convenience store, Sheriff Steve Whybark said in a news release.

Search and rescue workers found the body early Saturday morning in a wooded area about three miles north of the lake, which is 20 miles north of Shelton, Whybark said.

The general description of the body matches the missing man, he said, but its identity has not been confirmed.

Harkins is the only missing person in Mason County, Whybark said. He did not explain what prompted the search.

The county coroner could not be reached for comment Saturday evening.
