No Free Boat

Marketing scams

Idaho residents who got notice in the mail that they’d won a sport fishing boat and outboard motor had a few surprises coming.

At the bottom of the promotion from Ewing Fairchild International, Inc., a Florida marketing company, the lucky “winners” were notified they had to pay a $99.50 shipping, handling and promotional fee.

What they got if they sent money was a small rubber dingy. The “outboard motor” was a small, battery-powered motor - and they didn’t even get a battery.
