A.G. Edwards Opens Local Office

From Staff And Wire Reports

A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., one of the nation’s largest brokerage firms, opened an office in Spokane on Monday.

“We just opened up our doors,” said manager-designate Don Cutler, who moved to Edwards from Piper Jaffray.

He said the staff initially will include four brokers and two assistants. Besides himself, the brokers are Chad and Mary Gladhart, formerly at Phelps & Woodhead Inc., and John Morrill, an Edwards broker moving to Spokane from Laguna Beach, Calif.

Cutler, a broker since 1984, said Chad Gladhart will manage the office until he passes his licensing examination.

The office at 501 N. Northpointe, Suite 424, has space for 12 brokers, Cutler said, but the firm is not recruiting more now.

The Spokane office is the first in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. The closest of 540 nationwide is in Missoula.

Edwards, based in St. Louis, trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange.
