Holiday Drivers To Get Air Bag Tips On The Run

Knight-Ridder

Motorists visiting the nation’s busiest rest stops this Thanksgiving weekend will receive information that could keep them and their children from being killed by air bags.

An air-bag safety campaign, announced Monday and funded by automakers, corporations and the government, will place safety advocates at 82 rest stops and welcome centers in 50 states on the Wednesday before and Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Their message: In vehicles with air bags, you’re safer if you buckle everyone in seat belts and put children 12 and under in rear seats.
