‘Baywatch’ Babe Files For Divorce
Busty “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson Lee on Tuesday filed for divorce from her head-banger husband, Tommy Lee, after less than two years of marriage.
Citing irreconcilable differences, the ex-Playboy playmate filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking joint custody of their 5-month-old son, Brandon.
Pamela asked that her maiden name, Anderson, be restored.
The 21-month marriage began where celebrity marriages usually begin - in the headlines.
Tommy, 34, was a notorious rock ‘n’ roll bad boy who got violent when drunk and was most famous for having once been married to actress Heather Locklear.
Pamela, 29, who became a star as a lifeguard on “Baywatch,” was said to be through with rock stars after breaking up with Poison singer Bret Michaels.
So Hollywood was caught by surprise when the New York Daily News reported that Pamela had gone ahead and married the Motley Crue drummer at sunset Feb. 19, 1995, on a beach in Cancun.
The bride wore a tiny white bikini. The tattooed groom wore white Bermuda shorts.
Pamela tried hard to portray them as a nice, wholesome couple. But it was hard going.
She insisted in interviews that her hubby had given up his wild lifestyle and was committed to having a family.
But in October 1995, Pamela was hospitalized for exhaustion after complaining that non-stop partying with Tommy was wearing her out. And there were tensions on the “Baywatch” set when she began showing up with bruises and cuts - wounds she blamed on her work in the film “Barb Wire.”
The couple reconciled and Pamela got pregnant - but miscarried. In July 1995, she said they were “working on” getting pregnant again.
Soon she was.
“He’s really excited about the baby,” Pamela insisted just before their son was born. “I don’t want to ruin his image, but Tommy is not what you think. He loves flowers, even plants them. He cooks and cleans.”
Locklear said Pamela was deluding herself.
“I’m sorry for Pamela if she really believes he’s given up his wild ways for the delight of wiping up baby drool,” Locklear said. “That may be Pamela’s fantasy. But it ain’t Tommy Lee’s.”
Tommy was present at his son’s birth June 5. But by then the marriage appeared to be unraveling.
The strain showed two months later, when Tommy allegedly decked a tabloid TV cameraman Sept. 29 outside a Beverly Hills nightclub.
Pamela was caught on camera swearing up a storm.
The couple claimed they’d been harassed and sprayed with pepper Mace. Some of the hecklers reportedly jeered, “Why aren’t you home with your baby!”
