Team Up With Michael And Bugs

Roy Bassave Miami Herald

The game: Space Jam

Formats: Sega Saturn, Sony PlayStation, PC CD-ROM.

Estimated selling price: $49.99.

Category: Sports/animation.

Players: One to six.

Recommended ages: 6 and up.

How the game works: “What’s up, Doc?” I’ll tell you what, it’s Space Jam, based on Warner Bros.’ motion picture starring Bugs Bunny and NBA superstar Michael Jordan. Acclaim’s Space Jam lets you control on-screen players for the most madcap, intergalactic 3-on-3 basketball game of all time, which will decide the fate of the Looney Tunes characters.

Play in awesome action levels: battle the “Monstars” - evil aliens who have armed themselves with the talents of various NBA superstars - through multiple levels including the Trophy Room, the Locker Room, Space Race and others.

Teaming up with the likes of Bugs, Daffy Duck, the Tasmanian Devil, Lola Bunny, Taz, Elmer Fudd and Michael (Air) Jordan, gamers will need to deliver nothing less than “net” as they take on the Monstars. Featuring special dunks and defensive moves, multiple high-action levels, bonus power-ups and rounds, and many other surprises, the Space Jam video game will provide all the nonstop fun of the film and more.

Good points, bad points: By teaming two of the world’s most popular icons in Space Jam, Warner Bros. has created a unique property that will enthrall fans who grew up with Bugs and the gang.

Excellent graphics for an animated game, but what truly makes this enjoyable is the game play, which is clearly made for kids 6-12; for older kids and adults there is NBA JAM Extreme, also from Acclaim, which is even better than its arcade version.

Tips: Visit Acclaim’s Web site (at http:www.acclaimnation.com) for some innovative online promotions, as well as Warner Bros.’ Web site (http:www.spacejam.com ).

The verdict: I would, I would, I’d recommend this game even to a Puddy Tat!
