Woodinville, South Kitsap Hope To Run To State

If Mead defeats Richland Saturday in the State AAA football playoffs, the Panthers will face the winner of the Woodinville-South Kitsap game a week later.

In its first-round game, second-ranked Woodinville (10-0) rolled past No. 6 Kentridge 49-7. The Falcons scored six touchdowns on their first 18 plays.

Woodinville quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo, son of former Seattle Seahawk Manu Tuiasosopo, rushed for 169 yards on his first four carries, including an 84-yard TD. He finished with 201 yards and threw TD passes of 41 and 12 yards.

South Kitsap (11-0) went into its first-round game against Snohomish without star running back Donovan Dashiell. Dashiell, who had more than 1,300 rushing yards, pulled a hamstring the week before the game.

Sophomore Elkanah Montgomery stepped in to rush for 230 yards on 26 carries, including a 70-yard TD. The fourth-ranked Wolves topped Snohomish 31-21.

Lewiston takes title shot

Lewiston finished the regular season 11-0, the school’s first undefeated football team since 1954.

The Bengals aim for 12-0 Friday night in the Idaho State A-1 Division I title game.

Lewiston has played for the title four of the last five years. The Bengals, seeking their second title, meet upstart Bonneville (7-4) at 7 at Moscow’s Kibbie Dome.

Irish run out of luck

O’Dea, two-time defending State AA champion, fell to visiting Capital of Olympia 37-7 to end a 35-game winning streak. The top-ranked Irish had never trailed in rolling to a 9-0 record during the regular season. Capital led 27-0 at halftime.

Miller passes Lucht

Lakes QB Drew Miller finished four years at the Tacoma school with 9,003 passing yards. Miller became the No. 1 passer in state prep history, topping Bobby Lucht of Eatonville’s 8,933 yards.
