Arrest Warrant Issued For Governor’s Ex-Maid

Compiled From Wire Services

The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service has issued an arrest warrant for Gov. Pete Wilson’s former maid, the Mexican immigrant whose questionable residency status came to light during the governor’s ill-fated bid for the Republican presidential nomination last year, sources confirmed Friday.

Officials at the INS office in San Diego apparently want to question Josefina Klag Delgado to determine whether she fraudulently obtained legal residency papers by marrying a U.S. citizen, even though she may have already been married to someone else.

Revelations that Wilson and his ex-wife, Betty, may have employed an undocumented immigrant during his tenure at San Diego’s mayor in the late 1970’s rocked his presidential campaign in May 1995. The governor had touted his crackdown on illegal immigrants as a cornerstone of his White House bid.
