Newcomers To Get A Good Look In Cougars’ Basketball Opener

Ike Fontaine has been battling illness and Rodrigo de la Fuente is out, meaning Washington State might rely on an untested supporting cast during today’s season-opening men’s basketball game against Boise State.

Fontaine, who led the Pacific-10 Conference in 3-point shooting percentage last season, practiced Friday and is expected to start when the Cougars and Broncos tip off at noon in Friel Court.

De la Fuente, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound guard, is recovering from an ankle sprain suffered Nov. 15.

WSU’s starting lineup is expected to consist of Fontaine, freshman point guard Blake Pengelly, freshman wing Chris Crosby, junior forward Carlos Daniel and senior forward Tavares Mack.
