An Ice Outing Awaits In Leavenworth

Weather notwithstanding, the ice has gone down in Leavenworth. This ice sheet is indoors, however. A new ice rink has been added to the Icicle Junction Family Fun Center, located at the outskirts of Leavenworth on Highway 2.

The four-acre fun center also includes an 18-hole miniature golf course, replica excursion train and bumper boats. Rental skates are available at the skating rink. For information: (888) GO-2-ICICLE.

Dinner and a show?

The spirit of the holiday season will be celebrated in the Methow Valley with three performances of “The Little Town of Christmas,” staged Dec. 13-15 at Sun Mountain lodge.

The Dec. 13 and 14 performances are $35 and include dinner at Sun Mountain Lodge; the performance Dec. 15 is a show only and tickets are $10.95.

The events benefit the Methow Valley Theatre and Methow Arts Alliance.

In other news about Sun Mountain Lodge, the popular winter destination resort is adding 24 new rooms, some of which will be open for the holiday season.

Try to relax

Thanksgiving is traditionally the busiest travel day of the year, at least when it comes to those traveling by air.

To help travelers navigate the crowds, United Airlines offers some travel tips:

Leave for the airport an hour earlier than normal to allow time to park.

Bring your drivers license or other identification for security purposes.

Reconfirm flight times and seat assignments at least 12 hours in advance of your departure.

If possible, take only carry-on bags.

So many destinations…

Mountain biking in Canyonlands, Zion or Bryce? Kayaking off the coast of Alaska? Hiking to Machu Picchu? If any of these activities strike a chord when it comes to planning your 1997 vacation, you might want to contact Michols Expeditions, based in Moab, Utah.

The adventure travel company will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year and the tour schedule includes all of these destinations as well as others in Idaho, New Zealand and Mexico.
