‘Bo’ Gritz To Be Substitute Teacher

From Staff And Wire Reports

One-time presidential candidate James “Bo” Gritz has been approved as a substitute teacher for the Kamiah School District - as soon as criminal charges against him in Connecticut are settled.

Gritz and his son, Jim, both of Kamiah, pleaded innocent to charges that they attempted to kidnap two young boys who are the subject of a custody battle. The Gritzes are to appear in court Dec. 10.

Gritz is a retired Green Beret and founder of a constitutional covenant community near Kamiah called Almost Heaven.

Each Idaho district sets its own standards for substitute teachers. At Kamiah, substitute teachers are required to have a high school diploma, but do not have to be certified teachers.

Gritz and his son are free on $50,000 bonds.
