Flight Attendants Ok Salary Cutbacks

From Staff And Wire Reports

One of two holdout unions Friday agreed to endorse a salary-slashing restructuring plan that could save Canadian Airlines from bankruptcy.

Judy Darcy, president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, said she would recommend her 2,700 flight attendants approve the plan now that she has received assurances that pay cuts would affect only workers earning more than $25,000 ($18,500 U.S.). The union will vote Dec. 7.

Four other unions already have backed the plan, leaving only the Canadian Auto Workers opposed.
