J. Harold Anderson Spokane

Memorial service for John Harold Anderson, 91, is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Riverview Terrace Retirement Home Chapel. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Anderson, who died Tuesday, was born in Rosalia, Wash.

He grew up in Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington with a law degree. He was a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.

He moved to Cashmere, Wash., in 1929 to set up his own law practice.

He married Jeanie Grant in Seattle in 1931.

In 1943 he joined the Army and was assigned to Army Counter Intelligence Corps in the Southwest. He also served as a security officer on the Manhattan Project and was a member of the National Counter Intelligence Corps Association.

He returned to Spokane 10 years ago.

Mr Anderson was a member of the Demolay, Boy Scouts and Rotary. He had served as chairman of the Board of Trustees for Eastern Washington State College from 1949 through 1958.

He was a member of the Washington State and American Bar Associations and retired in 1980.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanie Anderson; a daughter, Margaret Roffler; a son, John Anderson; a half-sister, Berniece Lavers of Bellingham; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the American Red Cross.

Helen Bloom Spokane

Memorial service for Helen Lenore Bloom, 97, was Friday at Westminster Congregational Church.

Miss Bloom, a Spokane resident since 1903, died Sunday.

She was born in Cissna Park, Ill., and graduated from North Central High School and the University of Idaho, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta.

She worked for Spokane and Eastern Bank for 25 years and retired in 1964.

She was a member of Westminster Congregational Church.

Miss Bloom is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Jones and Barbara Allen, both of Spokane.

Edgar Mosley Spokane

Memorial service for Edgar A. Mosley, 74, will be held at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Santa Rita, N.M. and raised in Silver City, N.M., Mr. Mosley died Nov. 22.

He worked at KREM-TV as an announcer - “Silver City Ed” - and program director, for 12 years. He then worked at KPEG as news director and announcer for many years. He was also an insurance salesman for 10 years with Metropolitan Life. He retired in 1987.

He was a volunteer for the Spokane Police Department and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in North Africa.

Mr. Mosley is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Mosley; two sons, James Mosley of Spokane and David Mosley of British Columbia; a sister, Edna May Mosley of Pasadena, Calif.; a brother, James Mosley of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Margaret Tracy Spokane

Visitation for Margaret Weyer Tracy is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial at 1:30 p.m. at Hartline (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mrs. Tracy, 98, died Nov. 21.

She was born in Hoisington, Kan.

She was a 52-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.

Her husband of 63 years, Paul Tracy died in 1981.

Mrs. Tracy is survived by two sons, Louis Tracy of Rapid City, S.D., and Jack Tracy of Spokane; a daughter, Dora Higginbotham of Hartline, Wash.; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mabel McCrea Chewelah, Wash.

Visitation for Mabel May McCrea, 104, is scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chewelah City Cemetery.

Mrs. McCrea, who died Thursday, was born in Cripple Creek, Colo., on Leap Year Day.

She moved to the Chewelah area with her family when she was 2 and graduated from high school there.

In 1911, she married Murray McCrea.

Survivors include a grandson, Fred Anderson of Las Vegas, Nev.

Clarence Painter Spokane

Service for Clarence A. Painter, 87, is planned for 1 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Mr. Painter, who was born on one of Washington’s Centennial farms in the Plaza, Wash., area, died Tuesday.

He farmed on the family farm for 73 years and retired as a warden with the Department of Natural Resources.

His wife, Irma, died in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Molly Franz of Spokane; a sister, Eleanor Trapp of Spokane; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ralph Vestal Sr. Spokane

Memorial service for Ralph H. Vestal Sr. will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Vestal, who died Wednesday, was born in Durham, N.C. He was 63.

He graduated from high school in North Carolina and entered the Air Force after graduation. He served for 20 years.

He married Vivian Haase in Spokane in 1952.

In 1980 he opened Vestal Jobber Manufacturing Company in Spokane.

He was a member of the Spokane Masonic Lodge and the El Katif Shrine.

Mr. Vestal is survived by his wife; three sons, Rick and Douglas Vestal, both of Spokane, and Bruce Vestal of Redmond, Wash.; a daughter, Michelle Fabio of Spokane; his mother, Cenie Vestal of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Norman Vestal of Greensboro; and 15 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
