Studded Tires Legal This Week In Idaho

From Staff And Wire Reports

Studded snow tires can be used legally on Idaho’s highways beginning Tuesday, the Idaho Transportation Department says.

The tires have small metal cleats embedded in the tread to help vehicles stop on ice. They are legal from Oct. 1 to April 15 in Idaho.

Studded-tire laws differ among Idaho’s neighbors. They are legal in Montana and Nevada starting Tuesday; in Utah, Oct. 15; Washington, Nov. 1; and Oregon, Nov. 30. Wyoming has no restrictions.
