Usda Offices Close In Two Counties

From Staff And Wire Reports

County offices for two area U.S. Department of Agriculture agencies serving farmers and rural homeowners have closed, officials said Wednesday.

The Pend Oreille County office for the Farm Service Agency closed Tuesday. Its programs will be transferred to the Spokane County FSA office, 222 N. Havana. Pend Oreille farmers enrolled in farm programs in the future will deal with the Spokane office, said Randy Primmer, FSA county executive director in Spokane.

The Adams County office of the Rural Development agency, which makes loans to homeowners, closed last month to reduce operating costs, said state director Mary McBride in Wenatchee.

Rural housing programs for the county were transferred to the agency’s offices in Pasco, Wenatchee and Yakima. , DataTimes
