Church Brings Back ‘Hell House’

Associated Press

A church is bringing back its controversial Halloween “Hell House,” which tries to scare the devil out of people with grisly scenes of abortion, AIDS and teenage suicide.

But this year, the Abundant Life Christian Center will allow small children and the faint of heart the option of attending only the “Heaven House” portion of the performance.

Modeled after a traditional haunted house, the 30-minute Hell House performance has church members acting out such scenes as a woman who has undergone an abortion, a funeral for an AIDS victim and a drunken driver who kills his family in a car accident.

More than 5,000 people saw Hell House during the five nights it was staged last October.

The Abundant Life Christian Center also is selling $149 how-to kits to other churches that want to set up their own Hell Houses.
