Potluck, Video Mark 45 Years For Gethsemane Lutheran

Gethsemane Lutheran Church is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a special service at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday school classes as well as the church choir will sing during the service. Afterward, there will be an informal coffee fellowship. A short video highlighting church’s history will be shown at that time.

A potluck luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m. The church will provide beverages and place settings.

Gethsemane Lutheran’s first service was in 1951 at an old gas station, senior pastor Robert List said. Church members have been meeting at the present site at 11315 E. Broadway since 1954.

Harvest dinner Thursday

The community is invited to attend a harvest dinner Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road. The menu includes turkey, ham, scalloped potatoes, salads, and homemade pie.

The dinner costs $7 for adults and $3.50 or children ages six through 12. Children age five and under are free. Proceeds will benefit various church projects.

Moms will meet on Tuesdays

Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene is hosting a gathering of mothers of preschool children on the first and third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the church, 10814 E. Broadway.

The group is non-denominational and focuses on giving moms of children age five and under a chance to get out and be with other moms.

There is no cost for program and all are welcome to attend. Child care will be provided. For more information, call the church at 927-2175.

Pancake breakfast Sunday

Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road, is holding a free pancake breakfast Sunday from 8 to 11 a.m.

The breakfast of pancakes and ham is being provided by the church outreach committee.

Redeemer Lutheran fair

Redeemer Lutheran church, 3606 S. Schafer Road, is having a fair from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday that highlights their missionary efforts around the globe.

The fair will feature information booths about the various efforts the church is involved in.

Guest speaker Ginny Wheeler will be speaking at the 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. Wheeler is director of adult education and women’s ministries at the Community Church of Joy in Phoenix.

A free barbecue will begin at 11 a.m.
