Taping Boy’s Mouth Not First For Teacher

Compiled From Wire Services

A teacher charged with taping an unruly pupil’s mouth and sealing him in a box has a history of similar behavior, police said: She once taped another child’s mouth and threatened to feed him to a snake.

Holly Hendricks, 26, who works with emotionally disabled students, was reassigned from her teaching job and charged with aggravated child abuse. She was freed on $2,500 bond.

Her only comment was that she did nothing wrong, police said.

Hendricks allegedly put the 6-year-old boy in the cardboard box on Sept. 16 at Thacker Avenue Elementary School in Kissimmee, but the incident wasn’t disclosed to police until Thursday, said Police Chief John Sutphin.
