O’Donnell’s Injury Adds To Jets’ Woes

Associated Press

Jets quarterback Neil O’Donnell separated his right shoulder during the second quarter of Sunday’s game against Oakland and will be sidelined four to six weeks.

O’Donnell, who signed with the Jets as a free agent for five years and $25 million in the offseason, was hit by Albert Lewis while passing. He stayed on the ground for several minutes before walking slowly to the sideline, then being taken to the dressing room for X-rays.

Asked if he had reached the point of wondering what could happen next to the 0-6 Jets, O’Donnell responded, “Sure you do. It’s been a long, long season so far.

“It’s been that way for two weeks,” added O’Donnell, whose right arm was in a sling. “A lot of injuries.”

Frank Reich replaced O’Donnell and will start next week.

“Right now, Frank is the guy and that’s why he’s here,” coach Rich Kotite said.

New York already was without starters Keyshawn Johnson, Marvin Jones and Hugh Douglas.
