Terry Labonte posted his second victory of the season and his first in 37 career starts on the 1-1/2-mile Charlotte oval in the UAW-GM Quality 500.

The victory, combined with teammate Jeff Gordon’s 31st-place finish, brought the 1984 Winston Cup champion nearly all the way back from the 111-point deficit he faced coming into the race. Labonte trails by only one.

Spokane’s Chad Little finished 22nd.

Butch Leitzinger and John Paul, Jr. drove through torrential rain at Daytona International Speedway at Daytona Beach, Fla., to win the threehour finale of the IMSA season.

Doug Chandler, driving a Kawasaki, collected the second AMA Superbike championship of his career by winning the season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
